Monthly Archives: February 2013
We are rejoicing in a turn around we had today as I stood at our local abortion mill—a young college age couple who knew what they were doing was wrong but felt they had no other options. Oh, to think they would have allowed a doctor to take the life of their child (and then lived with intense grief and guilt) if there had not been people standing and pleading outside that mill this morning. What effected them most was watching the staff mock those of us handing out information and praying on the sidewalk. They could not take it and faced the pressure of going to the front desk to let them know they were not going to abort, walk back out through all the people in the waiting room, forfeit money, etc…in order to save the life of their child. Praise God. Prayer is so incredibly important in this work. A huge thanks to those who have prayed all week for these specific girls entering today. God answered. We are filled with such emotion!
If you are interested in coming to join us stand or would like information on how to start a Pro-life ministry in your own area, please let us know. This ministry is vital—if there is a clinic in your city please begin to pray for how the Lord would use you, your family, and your church to effectively share the gospel and help those who are walking in to their destruction. Consider for just a moment the number of mills in comparison to the number of churches! “These abortion mills stay open by permission of the local church” —Francis Schaffer.
Tomorrow Deana and Tirzah and I travel to White Water, Kansas! I will be speaking at a youth rally Sunday evening and would appreciate your prayers for safety on the road and that God’s word will go forth and bear much fruit!
January was filled to the brim! Thank you for praying as Kevan preached and we both engaged in the work of evangelism and discipleship this past month! We are thrilled that God gave us the ability to hand out all 40 of the 180 Movie (watch here: www.180movie.com) we bought specifically in memory of the 55 million babies that have been killed since the legalization of abortion in America 40 years ago.
The Holy Spirit continues to propel us forward in the Pro-life ministry—giving us greater desire to be a part of what He is doing in this cultural battle front. It is raging—the casualties being over 3,000 daily! As our eyes are open more and more to this atrocity we are reminded of the verse which states: “If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain…He that keepeth thy soul, doth not He know it?” (Proverbs 24:11-12). The Creator of life hates the shedding of innocent blood—He wants us to do something about it and knows when we don’t! In Scripture we are commanded to “open [our] mouths for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction” (Proverbs 31:8). David Livingstone, missionary to Africa, said, “Sympathy is no substitute for action!” Our hearts are stirred with great emotion when we consider those being led to the slaughter in our own city, but we are called to use that emotion to make us mobile. We desire to be a family given even more to action than ever before as we see that “the coming of the Lord draweth nigh” (James 5:8)! Please continue to pray for us as we stand at our local abortion mill whenever the doors are open for murder—every Wednesday, Saturday, and now we have discovered on certain Fridays as well. I am very grateful for a bold and determined husband—but the enemy is against us, always searching for ways to distract, weaken, or discourage our duty. We are so grateful for those in our church body that make it a monthly practice to stand, pray, and sing praises outside the abortion mill every 4th Saturday! We had 27 come in January! We are grateful for those who have helped us make large signs and pray even when they cannot physically stand. These dear saints are storming heaven’s gates with intercession and we will see damage to enemy lines. Please pray that God will open “a great door and effectual” to us each time we go to counsel and call out to those who are entering, give information on fetal development and a crisis pregnancy center, share the Gospel, and hold signs high for the city to see—pray that lives would be saved and souls would be eternally secured!
Our 2013 calendar is filling up and we are very grateful to the Lord for leading us where and when He would have us minister. God continues to give opportunity for Kevan to preach or teach on Creation in church services, classes, youth groups, and camps—this Spring and Summer is quite full already! We head to White Water, Kansas in just a couple weeks where Kevan will be the speaker for a large youth rally. We expect both saved and unsaved middle and high school teens—so please pray that the seed that is sown in their hearts will bear much fruit!
