“…I muse at the works of Thy hands” (Psalm 143:5).
The 2013 Summer Session of “Something to Think About”
will feature the feathered fowls that live on or near the water. Kevan’s egg
collection will also be on display, as well as various other bird specimens.
In the book of Job, God tells us to “Ask…the fowls of the air,and they shall tell thee.”
When we observe the design and behaviors of these birds they will “teach us”
principles from God’s word that, if applied to the relationships we have
in and outside of our home, we will live in a way that honors our Creator!
Join us for an afternoon at the MUSEum on
August 17, 2013, from 2 — 4 pm
At Grace Christian Fellowship Church
9200 Parallel Parkway
Kansas City, KS 66112
(around back in the fellowship hall)
confirmation of students coming required
by August 12th at firstname.lastname@example.org
“Something To Think About” is designed for school-aged children who are interested in
learning more about God’s amazing creation and are determined to live for their Creator.
Each session will feature a different topic—either a science lesson, demonstration of different
scientific laws, studies in nature using animal features, behavior, and/or fossils alongside Scriptural
truth and practical life lessons. It is sure to be interactive and will include games and snacks!
We had such a full time at Christian Youth in Action in Newton, KS. We were so encouraged by the young people’s earnest desire to be involved in the Great Commission. We enjoyed getting to know them one on one and were blessed by many conversations and times of prayer! It was especially thrilling to us to introduce these teens to the pro-life work and see them pick up the challenge to seek for ways to be a physical part of that “mandatory ministry”! Besides his normal classes, Kevan spoke for chapel at the start of each day, exhorting the listener to be forward in his/her Christian walk and covered the different Front Lines we are involved in as a family. I know I was extremely challenged each morning, but it was wonderful to hear how God’s word was impacting others as well. CYIA is excellent in all of its training—challenging and preparing young people to “go…into all the world”! Here is a testimony we just received from a 4th year student:
Camp was difficult for me this year, from being surprised with extra work to being convicted in nearly every area of my life. Although it was tough, the growth I have experienced is immeasurable. I have learned that I shouldn’t even let the enemy get a foothold. I have been convicted of making an idol of myself, not knowing God’s Word enough, being too afraid to witness, not spending enough time with God, and not being the man of God and leader I should be. I was moved also by looking exclusively into God’s creation. What a marvelous God we have! During one of the times I was weakest in the training God came to my rescue and used me in a mighty way by leading a boy to Him. —Justin Reilly
The week after CYIA the mother board on our computer crashed—this stored all of Kevan’s sermons, research notes, Bible studies, Power Point Presentations, both of our writings, and many other valuable documents and pictures! We praise God that in less than three days we were able to purchase a new computer and have most things up and running. God graciously has provided for our needs through your prayers and gifts. We are daily amazed at how He goes before us and shepherds us all the way.
We also rejoice in one man’s response to Kevan sharing the law on two different occasions and the Gospel one particular morning outside the abortion mill—“Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” It was wonderful to see God’s word work mightily on his conscience and hear him declare, “I am trusting Jesus”! Please pray for Marcos!
We are thankful for several other opportunities God gave us this last month to minister at churches and an Urban Farm tour! 🙂 Kevan was invited to be the story teller on a friend’s farm. He enjoyed declaring our Creator using the design of different rodents! (Complete with skulls, pelt, teeth, etc…!)
We praise the Lord for His mighty work and your faithful prayers as we minister 3 days a week at the abortion mill. As we were pleading with those going in 2 weeks ago, we noticed a young couple in the foyer who were visibly upset. Both Kevan and I took turns speaking to them, offering them help and hope and the gospel of Jesus Christ. After the abortionist arrived she left him (obviously not to the liking of the man) to follow a nurse into the clinic. At that moment he stood, looked our way, and came out to us shaking with emotion and crying out “I don’t know what else to do…I don’t know what else to say…!” We immediately gathered around this very distraught young man and began praying out loud for him and the situation—asking God to do a miracle. He told us of her difficult situation and was very receptive to the truth and the different gospel literature we gave him. Oh, what a precious miracle! God mightily answered our prayers—even after going in the back with the nurse that young women changed her mind and they both walked hand in hand out of that place of death! Taking a desperate situation, God will work His mighty grace and mercy in the life of that mama if she continues to humbly place her life at His feet…please pray for M and E! Pray that she will choose to carry her baby every day of the pregnancy no matter her fear! Pray that they will both come to know Christ as their Savior! “His mercy endureth forever!”
We are off to camp in just a couple weeks. Kevan has been given the opportunity to speak at 2 separate camps this month—July 15-19 in Ark City, KS and July 29–August 5 in Missouri. Tirzah and I are so glad we can go along! Kevan will be speaking a total of 15 different sessions during those weeks and would greatly appreciate your prayers! The first camp will be for 8-14 year olds and will feature Missions (challenging the children toward the Great Commission) along with Creation presentations. We love to encourage young lives with the lives of Hudson Taylor, David Livingstone, Isabel Kuhn, and Amy Carmichael. The second camp will be for middle/high schoolers where Kevan will be teaching through Ephesians 5-6. That is a lot of content to cover in just a week’s time—but Kevan is grateful for this open door and we look forward to what God will do in the lives of these teens as they surrender to the truth of God’s word and the workings of the Holy Spirit!
